About Why PPC

Why People Power?

In 2013, People Power developed the award-winning smart home app Presence (Android and iOS). The brainchild of CEO Gene Wang and CTO David Moss, this app transformed retired smartphones into sophisticated home security, energy management and home automation systems. People quickly fell in love with Presence. Almost immediately after launching the service, we learned it was being used enthusiastically as a senior care solution.

One of our early Presence users, Don, said,

“My family appreciates and depends on Presence to help us know immediately when my 92 year old mother needs assistance. It’s comforting to know the Presence app serves as our eyes and ears when we’re not there with mom.”

Presence also transformed the way the industry thought about consumer adoption of connected services. It was the world’s first ‘freemium’ smart home app, enabling free features while offering additional premium consumer services purchasable within the app.

But that’s only where the story begins. As we learned from more than a billion end-user engagements, Presence evolved in functionality and strengthened in reliability. We saw opportunities to scale our expertise to even more consumers interested in connected home solutions. We’ve done this by incorporating our technology into consumer offerings for some of the world’s biggest brands looking for inroads to consumer revenues.

Recognizing our ability to provide solutions that reduce typical subscriber barriers, Gartner Research named us “Cool Vendor 2017 in the Connected Home”. In addition to our proven ability to deliver security and energy management services, industry analysts view our ability to bring new senior care solutions to market with our business partners as unique and efficient by capturing recurring subscription-based revenues from truly helpful, beloved connected services.

As an IoT software company of engineers, visionaries, designers, dreamers and musicians, we have earned our leadership position by developing cutting edge methods to design, deploy and manage consumer experiences at every touch point. Services are delivered and promoted through business partner brands, creating new opportunities and brand value. With our value added business service, we’re prepared for market opportunities at scale. These services include 24/7 call center monitoring and customer support, sales and marketing readiness, online retail marketplace, retail packaging, inventory and warehouse readiness, municipal compliance, business logistics, RMA services and more.

The People Power Band

Upholding the Legacy of Bay Area Groove

Silicon Valley is known for over-achieving technologists and visionaries. But that’s not where the talent ends. Known as the birthplace of countless bands that music lovers celebrate, the Bay Area has always known how to groove. And keeping that legacy intact is the People Power Band. With a soulful mix of lushly orchestrated horns, strings, vocals and rhythms, the People Power Band harkens back to a day when big bands pushed groove to the beautiful limits, like the Brecker Brothers, Tom Scott, and even the Bay Area’s own Tower of Power. The People Power Band could play your next technology event, too. Bandleader Gene Wang, and CEO of People Power Co., would love to hear from you at gene@peoplepowerco.com Want to dance?
